Barbara Finley's Story
My story? Now there's a daunting task.
Let's see, back to Alta Loma. I always wanted to be a psychologist since about the 7th grade, I suppose. And now I am one. I first became a school psychologist in 9/75, a position I retain to the present at Petaluma High School. My, how the student body has changed! I also became a clinical psychologist (UC Berkeley Ph.D. in 6/83),with a thriving private practice, also in Petaluma. It's hard to juggle a couple of jobs, but I really love my work as no two days--no, even two hours--are ever the same.
I married twice for love and got lucky both times. The first marriage ended in divorce, but it was a good experience while it lasted. I am now married for keeps, which I think I can safely say after spending 15 years with this guy (whose name is Steve Finley). Along the way, I have helped to raise three stepchildren and a parcel of dogs and cats, all o...Expand for more
f whom taught me life lessons, mostly in how to love unconditionally.
My hobbies include voracious reading (about 60 books in 2008), international travel (British Isles being the most recent), gourmet cooking (with an inclination toward ethnic cuisines), and amateur photography (especially informal portraits and nature shots).
I probably share about the same mix that you do, of kids not quite grown up and failing parents with dementia. But as Steve would say, "It is what it is." I sold my Buri-Buri home a few years back, only to see it leveled to make way for a veritible two-story mansion (which looks pretty silly with WW-II bungalows on either side of it). My second home is in South Lake Tahoe, where we like to get away from it all, especially when there is snow.
Overall, life is good, no complaints. So drop me a line, just to say hi. I want to know how "you all" turned out.
